Welding & mechanical inspection
Fit-up, in-process and final visual inspection. Bolt-up and flange management, alignment, preheat and interpass verification, weld mapping and traveller sign-off.
ASME B31.3 · ASME VIII-1 · CSA W59
Third-party inspection · Alberta · Saskatchewan · British Columbia
Weld Scope Ltd. provides independent QA/QC inspection for pressure piping, vessels and exchangers — turnarounds, shop fabrication and new construction. Owner-operated by a CWB Level 2 Certified Welding Inspector and Red Seal welder with 23 years in the trade.
Scope of services
Every service below is delivered against a written acceptance basis — the code of construction, the client specification, and the ITP. Where a spec and a code conflict, the more stringent requirement is applied and the conflict is raised in writing.
Fit-up, in-process and final visual inspection. Bolt-up and flange management, alignment, preheat and interpass verification, weld mapping and traveller sign-off.
ASME B31.3 · ASME VIII-1 · CSA W59
Field coverage on vessels, exchangers and piping through the outage. Hold-point attendance, daily quality reporting, punch list generation and close-out ahead of start-up.
ASME B31.3 · NBIC · Owner specifications
Representing the owner's interest through shop fabrication and field construction. Vendor surveillance, subcontractor oversight, and liaison between contractor, engineering and the AI.
ASME VIII-1 · CSA B51 · ABSA / TSASK / TSBC
WPS, PQR and WPQ review for code compliance. Witnessing and administering welder performance tests as a registered welding examiner; maintaining continuity and qualification ranges.
ASME IX · CSA W47.1 · CSA W178.2
Scheduling and witnessing RT, UT, MT and PT. Independent review of technique sheets and reports against the applicable acceptance criteria, with repair tracking through re-shoot.
ASME V · ASME B31.3 Ch. VI · ASME VIII-1
Building and running the Inspection & Test Plan: witness, hold and review points assigned by risk and by code requirement, then tracked to signature so nothing gets covered before it is seen.
Client ITP · NRM & owner QA standards
Full traceability chain assembled and audited — weld to welder to WPS to heat number to MTR to NDE to PWHT to pressure test — with the gaps found and closed before the package goes to the client.
NBIC · CSA B51 · Owner turnover standards
Non-conformance reports written to the clause, with disposition, required approvals and client notification triggers identified. Concession and deviation requests prepared for owner sign-off.
ISO 9001:2015 · Owner QA procedures
Surface preparation, ambient and DFT verification, holiday detection and coating application monitoring against the specified system.
AMPP / NACE CIP Level 1

Nine services, nine figures. Each one is a working reference — the feature being judged, and the clause it is judged against.
How a scope runs
Work is planned and reported using standard inspection point notation, so the schedule reads the same to the contractor, the owner and the Authorized Inspector.
Code of construction confirmed, client specification read against it, WPS/PQR and welder qualifications verified, ITP marked up and agreed. Conflicts flagged before any steel moves.
Material and heat verification against MTRs, joint preparation, alignment and root gap, consumable control, preheat. Work does not proceed past this point without release.
Interpass control and welder identification confirmed at the joint. NDE witnessed as scheduled, results reviewed to the acceptance criteria, repairs tracked through re-examination.
Chart review against the procedure — soak temperature, hold time, heating and cooling rates. Test pack verified, test witnessed, results recorded and signed.
Traceability chain audited end to end, punch list cleared, non-conformances dispositioned and closed, data book assembled and handed to the client complete.
H — Hold point: work stops until released W — Witness point: attendance required R — Review point: documents examined
